Whilst browsing eBay this evening I came across a fish for sale which was instantly recognisable as an EBJD (Electric BlueJack Dempsey) however the seller only seems to be aware that this is a cichlid.
I am almost tempted to say that the user has worded the description in such simple terms that they know what they are talking about but don’t wish to share this information. Here is the description of the fish for sale and i’m sure after reading you will appreciate my point and concerns:
“A BEAUTIFUL BREEDING PAIR OF VIBRANT TURQUIOSE BLUE TROPICAL FISH, I BOUGHT THIS BREEDING PAIR OF TROPICAL FISH 2 MONTHS AGO WHICH I BELIEVE THEY BELONG TO THE CICHLID FAMILY , THEY WERE VERY SMALL WHEN I BOUGHT THEM SO I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE FINE WITH MY 22 BEAUTIFUL GUPPY MALES , NEEDLESS TO SAY THESE FABULOUS LOOKING CICHLIDS HAVE GROWN REALLY FAST DUE TO A HEALTHY DIET OF GUPPYS , I AM NOW LEFT WITH 3 GUPPYS SWIMMING FOR THIER LIFE. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS PAIR OF FISH I THOUGHT THEY WOULD ALL LIVE HAPPILY TOGETHER , THIS BREEDING PAIR COST ME 48.00 WHEN THEY WERE AN INCH BIG. THEY ARE NOW 3 INCHES AND STILL GROWING FAST , I HAVE PUT THEM ON HERE TO SELL AS THEY HAVE TO GO , 99P START NO RESERVE SO I CAN HAVE MY TANK BACK AS IT USED TO BE . CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY AS I WILL NOT POST . HAPPY BIDDING.”
This is clearly a case of a fish being mis-sold by the fish store which is very upsetting. I do not wish to name and shame the seller however the store, whoever it may be, should be ashamed of themselves as this is clearly a case of being mis-sold to the wrong fish keeper.
